I’m looking for some effective acne treatments to use. they can homemade or something to buy (just nothing to pricey) I’m using some things but none seem to really help much. Anything suggestions will really help.
Neutral soap, wash your face thrice a day, don’t wear too much make up or solid creams. Then learn how to relax and don’t even think about it. Stress is one of main causes, so let it go by itself.
hey all, ive been using benza clin (mainly benzoyl peroxide gel) for an acne cream for awile, and its not getting up all my acne, so i was wondering if anyone could tell me some good acne creams to use or perhaps home remedies? in the end i don’t know what i’m looking for yet i think, just anything that helps will be appreciated!!:) thanks
Drink plenty of water. Staying well hydrated can help your condition improve, because the "waste management" control system in your body requires a lot of water to do its job. Without enough water, the body has difficulty removing some waste products efficiently.
Look for face washes which contain the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide. This is the key ingredient in some of the best face washes. use a 5-10% benzoyl peroxide of mild to moderate acne and 10% for severe.
Try smashing one tablet of aspirin in a small bowl, then adding lemon juice to the mixture. Aspirin is acete salicylic acid, chemically related to salicylic acid. Apply to the affected areas overnight. It boosts the healing process while reducing redness.
Try putting toothpaste (paste, NOT gel) on your face, cover it with a bandage, and keep it on all night. When you wash it off in the morning your acne will look better. The astringent and surfactant nature of the toothpaste will help diminish the appearance of pimples. But the toothpaste has been known to burn sensitive skin of the face, so be careful. If your face does burn, stop acne treatments and work on healing your burn.
Try using Bentonite Clay, a natural mineral powder which has been known to absorb impurities and help neutralise the skin’s oiliness, and can be found online. Mix 2 tablespoons with a dash of cold water and smooth over the face as a thick paste. Once dried gently wipe off with a flannel or sponge.
Another way to zap pimples is shaving cream. Apply it to your pimple and it will dry it up. It disappears by morning, but washes your face after waking up. If nothing is working for you, drink four tablespoons of apple cider vinegar diluted with water daily. It works very well for some people and is worth a try. Another good solution is aloe Vera gel fresh from the plant, taken orally.

Acne Vulgaris is the most common problem encountered by teenagers who are under going through the adolescence period. The sudden hormonal changes and imbalance usually causes too much oil production these makes the pore more open to dirt that can cause inflammation. This is the common cause of acne. Also diet and lifestyle affects health of a being causing acne growth.
But before we look for treatments for acne like acne cleanser and other acne solutions it is very important to know the different types of mild to moderate acne type. What are the different acne types?
1.White Heads – these are commonly caused by blocking the pore with dead skin or bacteria that causes skin to produce yellowish sebum and thus results to white heads. They disappear more quick compared to other mild types of acne. It can be treated during facial or they disappear by just cleansing twice a day.
2.Black Heads – these are caused by particially blocking the pores that causes dead skin, trapped oil, bacteria and dead skin cells to dry up and affect the surface of the skin. The black color of this type of acne is not caused by the trapped dirt and impurities. This is usually cause by the skin discoloration called melanin. This pigmentation is due to the effect of lack of oxygen that cause skin to discolor and then the black heads appear.
3.Papules – these are the reddish acne types. These are swollen bumps usually red in appearance but do not have heads. Pricking this type of acne will only worsen the situation. You will need to seek medical advice in managing this type of acne.
4.Pustules – these are inflamed acne that seems to have reddish appearance that surrounds a yellowish center. These are usually treated by pricking or squeezing. But there is a step-by-step approach to pustules management in order to prevent infection.
I’ve been using neutrogena advanced solutions acne therapy system and at first it worked super good for me but now i keep getting little unwanted breakouts here and there. Help?
Cleanse daily, avoid washing away natural oils with soaps or washes, this causes skin to produce more oil than normal which clogs pores. I recommend Oil Cleansing Method (OCM), it doesn’t strip away natural oils so is healthy, reduces acne and heals scars. Mix half Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) to moisturize and half Castor Oil (CO) to cleanse, change mix as your skin changes, also try adding tea tree oil as it’s antibacterial. Massage mix into your face, then put a hot face cloth onto your face for at least 1 minute, this opens up pores letting the oil cleanse. Wipe off oil, any trace amounts of oil are absorbed so skin won’t be greasy. http://www.moogoo.com.au/category13_1.htm Have your own face cloth and towel, keep them clean and dry to avoid bacteria growth which can cause spots. Moisturize daily, as long as it’s not greasy it won’t cause spots, but don’t be scared to use oils such as Bio Oil which will heal scars too, remember oil is actually good for your skin.
Once a week steam to open pores by putting your head under a towel over a bowl of hot water, but don’t do this during breakouts as it stimulates blood flow and oil glands which can make things worse. Exfoliate weekly to scrub off dead skin, use something with rounded beads as things such as apricot kernels have sharp edges which cause small cuts leading to spots. Another way to exfoliate is cosmetic vinegar which also promotes circulation, regulates skins pH and is antiseptic. Mix 500ml of apple cider vinegar, 3ml lavender essential oil, 3ml rosemary essential oil, 2ml rosewood essential oil, and 2 tablespoons glycerine. Place into a glass bottle, use as cleanser by adding 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup of water. Try masks too, they are easy to make and there are many recipes online, see Make Your Own Cosmetics http://www.makeyourcosmetics.com or Pioneer Thinking http://www.pioneerthinking.com try this mask;
Strawberry acne mask;
Ingredients: ½ cup fresh strawberries, 1 egg white, 2 teaspoons of honey.
Mix together ingredients until smooth using a blender or a fork. To use spread over face and leave for 15 minutes, rinse off with cool water and pat dry. This one is good as strawberries are rich in salicylic acid which is commonly used in acne treatments, honey is also antibacterial.
Keep yourself healthy, diet is a big factor so make sure to get a healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables as well as a lot of water, but avoid salty foods as iodine aggravates acne, try also a good multivitamin – vitamins A, B6, zinc and chromium help to clean up acne. Get plenty of exercise, sleep and stay stress-free. Pay particular attention to your skin during harsh weather when it is more prone to damage, also avoid agrivation from the sun by using plenty of sunscreen. Make-up is best avoided all together, but if you do wear it use as little as possible and keep your make-up clean as dirty sponges or hands in make-up causes spots. Use mineral foundation as it has great coverage but is light so won’t clog pores and is free from harmful ingredients, most commercial brands make mineral ranges now so it’s easy to find.
Well I have used ProActive for awhile now it has worked but it really dries my skin out..so are there any others that are good and cheap? Thanks ![]()
take about four aspirin and dissolve them in a few drops of water.. add in a squirt of honey and make it into a paste.. you can also add in a few vitamin e capsules if ya like.. this can be used as a scrub, mask if left on for ten minutes, and a spot treatment left on over night.. it works like pro active.. i’ve used both and got the same result with each which is clear skin.. pro active dried my skin out too, but aspirin didn’t.. it’s a lot cheaper also..
oh.. and pro active contains benzoil peroxide.. whereas aspirin contains salicylic acid .. plus a bottle of aspirin is about three dollars at most lol.. and you don’t have to pay shipping prices..
honey alone as a mask works very well also.. leave it on for twenty minutes..
another thing i do as an exfoliate is i scrub my face with an electric toothbrush.. it’s sounds kinda weird but it works.. it really cleans out your pores and removes dead skin, oil and dirt.. you can use any scrub ya like or the aspirin i mentioned.. i like to use st. ives.. and i do it about three times a week..
only wash your face when you wake up in the morning, before you go to bed, and after exercise.. excess washing makes your face produce extra oil..
warm water opens pores and cold closes them.. so wash with warm and rinse with cold..
and watch the make up you use.. a mineral make up is much better for your skin.. it doesn’t clog your pores or cause break outs.. i recommend bare minerals..
and get a good toner and moisturizer.. i use the garnier nutritioniste moisturizer.. and lemon juice is a good toner..
drink lots of water.. eat healthy.. and take vitamin e, vitamin c, zinc and b vitamins..
hope this helps..
I’m in my early teens, and I have acne and hate it! concealer doesn’t cover it very well, and I have sensitive skin so a lot of stuff that I’ve tried have just irritated it more. what has worked for you? thanks-will pick best answer!
Okay well I think Clearasil Ultra works really well. There is a face wash, toner, moisturizing lotion (great for sensitive/dry skin) and a quick pimple remover cream. The great part is, it all rubs in so you are not stuck with goop all over your face! I am in my early teens as well, and that works really well. I also use Neutrogena Exfoliating facewash in the morning with an oil-free acne clearing moisturizer. This keeps my skin toned, oil free and moist so my acne treatments don’t irritate my skin. Best of luck to you and feel free to mail me if u have any questions
my moms been on acne medication for a while and it worked great for her. i just went on the same type, will it work for me too? i wasn’t sure if that type of this is genetic or not.
Use a mild soap for sensitive skin but it doesn’t matter exactly what type of soap you use. It can be designed for acne-prone skin or not, but you will want to treat your skin gently. Harsh antibacterial soap may actually make your acne worse by irritating skin.
Remove dead skin cells regularly by exfoliating. Use a gentle scrub with natural defoliants like ground walnut shells, or use an over-the-counter chemical defoliant like salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Adding ground walnut shell to a thick moisturizer like cocoa butter can be effective too. Take caution, because over-exfoliating can actually increase the likelihood of acne by irritating the skin. Pat dry, rather than rubbing, since rubbing can cause irritation to the fresh skin you’ve just revealed.
Use a good toner. Spray onto face or wipe on with a cotton ball and wipe off with a clean, dry cotton ball. This gets rid of excess cleanser and tightens pores. Good, inexpensive choices include plain witch hazel for normal to dry skin, lemon juice, or 3% hydrogen peroxide for oily skin. 70% ethyl rubbing alcohol can also be used for severe oiliness, but it can really dry out your skin and irritate it more. Some toners are medicated, and this stage is the best for using a medicated product if you’re only going to use one medication.
Bacteria in pores is one cause of spots. Reduce the amount of bacteria by using toners containing anti-bacterial agents like alcohol, peroxide and benzalkonium chloride, and by using creams that contain benzoyl peroxide (ask your doctor about benzaclin, with moisturizer if you have dry skin, as it works better than just plain benzoyl because benzoyl takes up to 8 weeks before improvement is seen) which kill bacteria as well as cause the skin to regenerate faster. …
I have proactive, and it just drys my skin out. I was wondering for any masks i can make with household items? That actually work. I have a dance coming up and i want to look pretty for my date. Please help!
alright here are just some of the home made remedies that might help you….
1)Aspirin mask with honey I tried it and damn it made my skin baby butt smooth and brought down the size of my pimples i reccomend you try it it also helps with cysts….Now you can make your own recipe for this it really depends on how your skin is..
heres my recipe
*2-3 aspirins
*Dab of honey (honey has great antibacterial properties plus helps moisturize the skin)
*2-3 drops of EVOO or u can use jojoba oil (I find that adding this makes it more moisturizing)
*1 pump of my moisturizer (I use cerave it really is good for dry skin but you can use whatever moisturizer you want.
Other people may add lemon juice or yogurt to their recipe so just find what works for you!
How to do it: I apply this mask on my entire face and leave for 15 minutes i then take it off while rubbing gently so it acts as an exfoliator!
2)Bakin soda is very cheap cooking ingredient that most people have in their homes already, baking soda can be used as a great scrub. The purpose of a scrub is to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin that can eventually clog pores and lead to acne spots.
To start off, you’ll want to mix a small amount of baking soda with some water for form a paste. Baking soda is very effective as a scrub, so you want to be sure to be extra careful when applying it to your face. Gently massage the paste into your skin for ten to fifteen seconds. Then rinse the baking soda off, and pat your face dry with a clean towel.
3)Lemon juice (Applied topically) Due to its disinfectant properties, lemon juice does indeed help to clear up acne. When applied topically on the skin, the acid in lemon juice breaks down the main acne-causing bacteria, p. acnes. The citric acid, known as L-absorbic acid, also cleanses clogged pores and makes them appear smaller. Other benefits include reducing overall redness, lightening skin tone and giving the face a soft glow. Not surprisingly, L-absorbic acid is found in many acne-treating products. Unlike acne products sold in stores, lemon juice is relatively inexpensive and affordable. The acne clearing effects should be visible within a few days of use. It is also used to treat disinfect minor wounds, scratches and tears in the skin.
4)Egg white mask Rich in protein, egg whites can be used as a mask to heal and rebuild your skin. It can also help to absorb excess oil from your skin.
To start off, crack an egg, removing the yolk so that just the egg whites are left behind. Beat these egg whites, and apply them directly to your face. Let it sit for fifteen minutes, and then rinse the egg off.
5)Tea tree oil- TTO is a commonly used all-natural household antiseptic, which you can pick up at most drugstores or supermarkets. You can apply TTO directly to acne spots to kill bacteria, or, if you strongly dilute it with another oil (such as jojoba oil), over your entire face.
Tea tree gel can be easier to apply than the oil, and many are made for applying over large areas of skin, so they aren’t quite as strong as straight TTO and do not need to be diluted.
6)Witch hazel has disinfectant properties. Use on the skin can reduce the bacteria there, helping to prevent inflammation and the formation of acne.
7)apple cider vinegar though most people that use vinegar to treat acne use the apple cider form of vinegar, you can also use plain old regular vinegar. Regardless of which type you use, vinegar can be very helpful with it comes to clearing up acne. It can kill off acne causing bacteria, balance your skin’s pH, and absorb extra oil on your skin.
*Starting with clean, dry skin, apply diluted vinegar (eight parts water to one part vinegar) directly to your skin with a cotton ball, and leave it on. If you want, you can also use a stronger vinegar solution (say, 2 or 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar), and apply it directly to problem areas, rinsing it off after ten minutes.
8)Aloe Vera – Aloe Vera has been used for many years in kitchens for topical application to burns. Another benefit of aloe is that it can prevent scaring, fade marks and help heal acne spots.
Hope that helped!!!

I’ve suffered with acne for some time now, and it does effect my confidence. However i’m’ not letting control my life, and i’m going on a 12 month working holiday too Australia this coming September.
Basically i was wondering if anyone could recommend any good salicylic acid washes, or creams? Or better still any good dermatologists i could possible visit?
Any dermatologist would be good. They all prescribe pretty much the same stuff. Mine saw me for a total of 5 minutes before prescribing antibiotics and Differin gel. Easy.
