Treatment for your acne should be accompanied by a healthy skin care routine.
1…Wash the affected area twice a day with mild soap. Use soap such as Dove, or one that contains benzoyl peroxide, such as Oxy-5. Wash as often necessary to keep the area clean. Do not scrub.
2…Shampoo the hair regularly.
3…Keep long hair off the face and shoulders and wash it daily.
4…Avoid shaving as much as possible; while shaving take care to avoid nicking the pimples.
5…Use a fresh shaving blade to minimize the chance of spreading the infection.
6…Avoid use of make-up or cosmetics in areas prone to acne. If you have to wear make-up, use only the hypoallergenic or fragrance free kind.
7…Don’t pop, pick, scratch, or squeeze your pimples. This may cause infection and scarring.
8…You may use an over-the-counter treatment that contain substances such as benzoyl peroxide (gel or cream) or salicyclic acid. Start with the lowest strength and apply once a day about half an hour after washing. Never use more than 5 percent strength without consulting a physician.
9…Food and Nutrition Recommendations for Acne:
Some doctors believe that acne is not a food related problem. Some alternate practitioners use diet as a basis for their treatment of acne. They recommend that acne patients should eat foods high in beta-carotene, such as carrots, pumpkin, cantaloupe and other yellow-orange fruits and vegetables. They should also avoid fatty foods. Acnezine controls the oil secretion in your body to protect your skin from getting acne prone.

I have tried proactive TWICE… and i have also tried doctor miracle 3 times, and i have not gotten any positive results. Could everyone please give me some suggestions on some great acne treatments for me to try out, i was thinking about trying skin id out but idk…

I’ve tried a lot of the acne facial washes (ProActive, Clearasil, Neutragena, Clean and Clear, etc.) and none of them really did all that much. Everyone’s skin is different and there’s no such thing as perfect skin, i understand that, but what has worked for all of you?
Many seriously go from one product to the next hoping this will be the one that finally works. It does not exist. And many harm and age skin and now we are learning are health harming also. It’s safer and better to go natural – that’s how I finally and permanently rid myself of all spots, pimples and all other conditions. Use an essential oil – there are some that have been used professionally by doctors, skin clinics, etc.to successfully treat and cure acne. They do not clog pores, and do not cause breakouts and actually neutralize excessively oily skin. (you can confirm with a Google search). And they are perfect moisturizers so you need no moisturizing products. Lavender, clove, rosewood and grape are excellent. I massaged skin very thoroughly and quite vigorously in places for 15 to 20 minutes daily and quite simply the massaging friction forced a new, clearer skin to emerge. Day by day skin became clearer and the spots simply faded away. First the blackheads went then the pimples then the rough dry skin and eventually all the spot scars – and skin has stayed totally blemish free., vibrantly healthy and radiant since. Does anyone know of any good acne products/perscriptions for cystic acne and scarring? I’m currently using Glytone, which helps clear up but I’m tired of wearing make-up to the gym which I shouldn’t even do but it’s better than wearing no make-up.
Cystic acne is treatable with Accutane. Unfortunately it comes with a booklet that you (and your parents, if you’re a minor) have to go over carefully, due to side effects (which are many). But I have seen it work wonderfully on most patient. Only dermatologists can prescribe it so you may need to get a referral from your primary care physician to see one.
It is more troublesome for female patients as she must go on birth control pills (regardless if she is sexually active or not), and if she’s sexually active, her partner must use condom. She also has to get pregnancy test every month, along with other lab works (Liver function test, CBC, complete blood count, and lipids).
For boys, we don’t have to do pregnancy test obviously.
It’s not to be taken lightly, but when it works, it really works. Do discuss it with your doctor, please, about the pro and con of this medication (there are generic versions now–a bit cheaper). Never never try your friend’s or get it in the black market.

I have cystic acne, and my doctor told me that I should definitely try Accutane. The only issue is that my insurance doesn’t cover it and it would cost over $1000 a month. I’ve been using the Murad acne process and that’s been working well for me, but that doesn’t work for the cystic acne under the skin, only the blemishes on the top layer. Are there any other medications or products that have worked on cystic acne that you know of? Thank you times ten in advance.
I’m already using a topical treatment called Murad. It’s basically Proactive x10 so that really won’t help me. That doesn’t take care of acne under the skin, only on top.
For bad acne like this that isn’t topical, just about everything other than accutane is useless. Accutane guarantees results and there really arn’t any other choices on the market right now for severe acne. It’s also fustrating when people do not realize that topical treatments do not work for the kind of acne we have. They, at the best of times, merely keep the acne from getting worse if they do even that. There is nothing special in proactive. You can find the same ingredients in store brand soaps that cost 10 times less.
Do know that often the treatment is not permanent, though. I’ve been on it three times, and will probably opt for a lifetime treatment taking one pill a week. It works very well for me, but the effects are not permanent. The only saving grace here is I get months of accutane for free (I live in Canada).
I sincerely hope that accutane works for you the first time and you can slay this awful disease.
